Week 4 Already!!!

The 6 Week Challenge is now into its 4th week.  Obviously things got busy and blogging got missed.

Here’s the update:

Week 2 the focus was on hydration.

Because of the high water content in the human body continuous cycling of water through the systems is essential for good health, and good movement.  The connective tissue of the body - fascia - is composed of a high percentage of water and heavily reliant on the same for good function.  Lack of water can be felt in many ways - headache, body ache, lower back pain, dryness in the mouth, hunger.   It is worth trying a glass of water first if you experience any of these symptoms.

The take home message - drink water, and plenty of it.

Week 3 the focus was on movement.

Currently it is acknowledged that most people will likely move less than their body needs to for good health.  Often times the lack of movement can be the cause of pain that then deters more movement - a vicious cycle.

When you put the focus on movement give your body time to adapt and get used to doing more.   Start with small and simple and feel good doing the movement and afterwards.  In the Challenge Team we focused on connecting the dots between the major movement complexes of the body so that the body felt good in movement.  Mobilising the joints at the ankle, hips and shoulders helps the body find good rhythm in walking and other movement and sets one up to succeed.

The take home message - the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone … and so on

This week, Week 4, is all about stress relief and using movement and exercise as a tool to help the mind and body feel great.  Lots of laughter was heard coming out of the studio last night, and I anticipate lots more to come, especially with a delightful surprise coming up on Saturday morning’s workout.   Pictures and a recipe for one of my favourite brekkies will be shared post event.

In the meantime, stand up, take a walk and have a glass of water and have a brilliant day!
