Today is a rest day. I will not run fast or move heavy objects and I will reflect on the week of training. After some challenging training this week at the hands of myself and my coach my body is in need of repair and my mind is thankful for the break. Tomorrow I will be back at work on my goal but today I choose to listen to the wisdom of the physiological feedback system nature gave me. Could I Train today? Yes. Would it advance me further towards my goal? Most likely not.
Training this week has included battle ropes, climbing ropes, sleds and drags, sprints, hills and carry, climbing, ViPR, crawling, sprinting, boxing, balance and agility work. My coach expertly weaving all of these together in a way that makes me feel invincible during training and humble after finishing.
I want my system to adapt to the stimuli it is receiving, rebuild and recreate what has been used during the last three days. If i dig that hole too deep the next time I train my body will still be in the midst of recovery, digging down a little more creates unnecessary injury risk, lowers the immune system and slows down physical gains.
Tomorrow I will bring my best and today I will go to watch star wars!
